Property overview
Set in rolling parkland amidst the wooded islands of the tranquil Upper Lough Erne, Crichton Castle, the historic seat of the Earls of Erne for over 350 years, enjoys an unrivalled location in the heart of Ireland’s Lake District. The Irish home of Lord Erne exudes all the charm of a personal residence, whilst offering the most modern facilities. Located on the shores of Upper Lough Erne, Crichton Castle is one of the most romantic and peaceful places in Northern Ireland. This 2,000-acre demesne is surrounded by tranquil islands and ancient woodlands. One of Ireland's most important conservation areas, Crichton Castle is home to a wealth of wildlife. Discover it whether you are fishing, woodland walking, butterfly spotting or bird watching.
Accommodation
With its own entrances and terrace, the Crichton Castle offers exceptional privacy and, with superb views of the beautiful Co. Fermanagh landscape from every window, is an ideal retreat from today’s busy world. Impeccably decorated in warm and inviting colours, the luxury apartment is tastefully furnished in period style. The elegant West-facing Drawing Room catches the evening sun and opens onto the terrace with access to the lake beyond. The Dining Room is situated in the castle’s former Billiard Room. Beneath the spectacular barrel-vaulted ceiling guests can dine in the utmost splendour. In addition to its own state-of the-art cooking area, complete with a serving island and an oil-fired Aga cooker, a fully equipped modern kitchen leads off this room for extra catering comfort.
Location
Known as the Lakelands of Ireland, Fermanagh offers some of the finest fishing spots in the country, along with fabulous bird watching experiences and Ireland’s only island town to explore. On a clear day walk the ‘Stairway to Heaven’ boardwalk, which offers a stunning viewpoint of the liquid gem that is the Fermanagh Lakelands. This boardwalk is suitable for most fitness levels, but it does take about 3-4 hours to walk to the vantage point and back to the carpark.
